Outline
- About Bragin
- About NetBird
- About my choice
Before NetBird
- bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in Russia
- while studying: opened online electronics store with friends
- afterwards: worked in Software Development for about 10 years
note:
not much known about early childhood
studied at Moscow State University of Railway Engineering
sold company; moved to Brazil because of niche technology he wanted a job in
Starting NetBird
- “I always had the goal of having more control of what I am doing and working” [^1]
- founded Wiretrustee with Maycon Lopes
- raised €1.1 million
- fun fact: Mario Götze was among the investors
note:
met Lopes during his time in Brazil around 2013
moved to Berlin in 2015 with Lopes joining him around 2020 which is when they founded Wiretrustee together
the wiretrustee idea: safely storing data on a small device at home like Google Drive or Dropbox and being able to access it remotely from anywhere; first prototype in Jan 2021 which was very well received and was going to be crowdfunded when the semiconductor crisis hit and production became impossible
then: netbird, which took the connecting aspect and the software from Wiretrustee, which was later renamed to NetBird; became Open Source → easily configurable corporate VPN
received funding 8 months ago
Why I chose this topic
- seen the original Wiretrustee product
- contributed to NetBird personally
- it’s interesting to see “smaller” entrepreneurs
note:
talked to Bragin & Lopes personally on using NetBird at the company
I got offered a job
